This week we only welcomed uncle and nephew duo Oliver and Nicholas to the lodge, visiting from France.

This was the guys first fishing holiday of this kind so took on some virtual information before hitting the water for their 6 days of fishing. It didn’t take long to come into affect after they reported back on the first day already having landed a huge specimen Roosterfish for Nicholas on the light rod! Along with many other smaller Roosters and more fish, with Oliver getting to grips with a nice Almaco Jack also!

This good luck prevailed for most of the week for the pair as they ticked off some wish list species and some good sized fish also, some particularly good jigging was to be had with multiple good sized Almaco jacks coming to the boat (not all pictured).

The pair caught a good variety of species through the week and had a very good mix of big fish and lots of action, with only really the Cubera snapper eluding them this week however Nicholas settled with a good Mullet snapper to suffice. There was a good presence of Inshore activity with some Sardine starting to show in which they found many small Roosters, Jacks, Sierra and Bonitos along with a few other species.

After the week of fishing was over Pierre and Kieren took the chance to grab a few hours fishing before taking the final boat out for Christmas, they found a couple of nice AJ’s, Mullet snapper lots of big Jacks along with lots of usual suspects. With Kieren connecting with what we expect to be a huge grouper but the fish was simply to strong to keep away from its shaggy lair and eventually found freedom, gut wrenching!

The following day Kieren took his partner Cassie on a short panga-boat session to attempt to get Cassie her first Roosterfish, they found great topwater activity knocking off numerous small Roosters, Jacks, Sierra and Bonitos.

And that was the end of fishing for 2021, let’s see what 2022 has in store for us!
