This week we had an invasion from the English which consisted of Mark's group of 5 which would embark on their first popping and jigging holiday over seas here in Panama then separately John and Ken and also Sam and Ben which would join lodge manager and friend Kieren as he took on the roll to Captain them for some fishing.

Although the week presented pretty fair and average conditions for this time of year from day 1 we was on the back foot as we was recovering from some previous high winds and swells from the days before, the water condition was suffering from this which in turn affected the fishing. The water at the coast was stirred and the previous reliable activity at the coast moved off, however as the conditions allowed it to correct itself we seen a steady increase in the fishing and the bite as the week progressed but it really didn't come easy for the guys unfortunately.

That being said the guys worked very hard and gained some crucial experience throughout the fishing week as they got to grips with the methods and preferred tactics for the fish available and still managed to lure some fantastic fish to the boats, the numbers of fish wasn't so high but some quality catches still and many firsts for the guys!

Ricky and Mark ticked off Cubera's on Popper on their first trip, the group had a few other chances also, some nice Almaco Jacks where caught also whilst jigging amongst the guys, John landed a lovely sized Rooster on popper and Dan nailed a nice Broomtail slow jigging.

As the week progressed signs of the inshore activity improving showed as the guys found some impressive Jack frenzies and a few obliging Roosters.

Kieren's boat knocked up an impressive 24 different species alone! With some fantastic specimens amongst them notably Roosterfish, Almaco Jacks, Colorado Snapper, Bluefin Trevally, Broomtail Grouper and a Cubera slow jigging! Their where of course some big fish lost during the week with classic bloopers and bad luck!

Top fish of the week went to Ben with a big Trophy Roosterfish taken on Popper, which hit so hard we thought it was genuinely a shark until it showed itself in the fight! well done Ben!

I believe a lodge total of around 30 species for the week which is impressive in itself for what was considered a very tricky week!

Thanks to the guys for joining us and providing great company at the lodge, it was a pleasure.

Kieren landed a couple of real brute Bluefin trevallys on topwater and SPJ. Sam also wanted to tick this specie off whilst in Panama and got a good specimen on topwater also.

This week we welcomed groups from Canada, France and Brazil. The week continued the trend of the previous week with some inconsistencies in action, harder slower days and alternatively much more productive days where the action flowed more consistently. We really do feel in the transition of seasons at the moment, we have the typical northerly winds expected at this time of year but still the temperatures of the water aren't matching so we are finding a spread of the bigger specimens hanging around still as well as the activity at the coast but some days more than others. The guys have certainly had to work for thier fish as always.

There was a couple of fish to note this week, first of all Lodge manager Kieren headed out one evening to catch a quick session and little did he know what he was in for when a Monstrous Cubera snapper smashed him up on his light SPJ outfit, incredibly after a true man V beast battle he brought the huge fish boat side and grabbed some quick pics before release, this fish was in the same sort of calibre as his monster World Record style topwater fish last season but to land one of that size on SPJ is somewhat crazy! A few days later Kieren headed out again for a few hours on his birthday to get his fix and this time latched into a big PB Corvina on SPJ to add to his already successful week!

Not to miss out on the action Francois on his 3rd trip to the lodge come up trumps when a monster Roosterfish hounded his popper, after a lengthy fight the incredible fish was landed and quickly returned after a few photos, an incredible specimen, he also managed many other Roosters through the week, with another big one at 20kg but returned boat side without photos. Pierre from Canada got his eye in on the big fish when a fantastic Cubera smashed his popper and successfully landed it, well done guys!

Orlando managed his topwater Cubera on the last day fishing off thier week nicely, along with a nice Corvina and some nice Broomtails coming to the boat for Gustavo and Gustavo Jnr also.

Pascal had some great opportunities at multiple Cuberas but sadly didn't get the upper hand on any but sufficed with some stunning specimen Pacific Red Snappers and Colardo Snapper as well as Rooster.
