I'm afraid I've been lazy again, but the absence of fishing reports certainly does not mean we had a lack of good fishing in our little Panama paradise. End of April to early July has seen consistent action and great variety ! And while pretty much every week has been different from the previous, all have been good in their own ways. As always here, one has to come with an open mind as each week can be so different and the best strategy is always to adapt to the conditions and use the variety of spots and techniques to our advantage in order to be where the action is ! And we definitely had to adapt in June to stay on top of the activity. Popping, jigging, inshore, offshore, south, north... All went from crap to lit up throughout the month, and the 30+ years of experience of our Captains in those waters definitely helped !
To start with, here are some pictures from Frank and his son who paid us a visit from North Carolina. I must admit I was nervous, as Frank has insane fishing back home, as any of his Facebook friends can attest. Luckily I got to relax when he told me his trip was already a success after he got 2 cubera snappers -his n.1 target- the first day. Overall, the inshore was good and typical of the wet season: a lot of blind casting with the bigger lures hoping to hook into one of those dream fish. This kind of fishing can feel slow at times until you come accross the right pocket of activity ! In any case, persistence is almost always guaranteed to be rewarded in the form of raising a fish of a lifetime. Once raised, boating those trophy fish is always another story so, as always, for every picture you see there's another story of a monster getting away... I believe they made great father & son memories ! Needless to say, all fish were caught on lures as always with Panafishing Adventures ! |
