There was a lot of opportunity for big cubera snappers this week and several were boated, but with about 18 being lost, the results are not quite what they could have been. Not blaming on the anglers, though, the boated/lost ratio is pretty average. One needs to remember these are the toughest of any fish to land and come prepared for some serious arm wrestling ! I was lucky to get a real trophy one on my afternoon out with Joe during his day off.
On the strange side as well, there are still no small or big yellowfin tunas around. There should be plenty around by now so we expect them to show anytime.
We're definitely into wet season fishing conditions now. The sardine activity at the coast is gone, the fishing is moving farther offshore and we use the lighter gear less as the focus switches to casting bigger lures on the deeper marks hoping for some trophy fish.
