A lot of action this week and some tarpons jumped !

                                                                   --------------------

Our 3rd group of the season got a lot of activity. The seas were alive and there was a lot of action on both popper and jigs. As always, I felt like crying when the Captains told me all that has been missed: a 30+ pound snook, an 80 pounds tarpon lost by the boat, wahoos, one marlin, a big shark, many cuberas and some big roosters... That being said, our Czech friend did pretty well. here are some pictures of the action. I went fishing on their last day to try to get a piece of the action but this was the worse day. I still got a nice cubera and some small roosters, but the very interesting thing is that we jumped, not one, but 6 tarpons, between 35 and 80 pounds I believe... I think there is much more than what we think. I am going to investigate as soon as I have time... Tarpon would be such a great addition the variety we have here...

The Fishing Dutchmen

4/11/2014

Some Dutch invaded the Panafishing lodge and fished for 5 days. They had good action on the jigs, less on popper. A lot of nice amberjacks have been caught, along with a good variety of other fish. The hysterical moment of the week happened when I joined some of the guys to get some piece of the action. All four anglers on the boat were reeling in something when a big marlin decided to eat my fish and tangle another line. I got to fight (or should I say to get a beating) the fish for a minute or two before the tangle messed up with the reel and the line broke. The marlin took off 2/3 of my spool before we started chasing it. It was pretty amazing to feel the power on my jigging outfit.
It's been another week of good fun at the lodge with some very nice guys.

Here is Pete, showing the younger guys what a jack crevalle should look like:
