Panafishing Adventures is a purpose-built fishing lodge in Pedasi on Panama’s Tuna Coast. We are the only lodge dedicated exclusively to popping and jigging with immediate access to unpressured waters where you will rarely, if ever, see another sport fishing boat. Anglers target roosterfish, cubera snapper, yellowfin tuna, amberjack and over 30 other species from our lodge just minutes from the fishing grounds.
Which time of the year should I visit ?
We often get asked what is the best month for a fishing trip in Panama with Panafishing Adventures.
There is no short answer to that question and everyone will have a different opinion on that matter depending on their preferences, priority and targets. Below is the rule of thumb that will help you determine which season is best for you. We strongly encourage returning customers to try another time of the year, for something a little different and to eventually experience the full spectrum of variety the Tuna Coast can offer.
Snappers
Cubera & mullet snappers hit hard for the rocks—30lb+ is trophy class on spinning gear all day, in Pedasi.
Roosterfish
Panama’s iconic gamefish: big, wary, and explosive on topwater, with long fast runs in every direction.
Amberjack
Reef donkeys that crush jigs and test your arms—almaco jacks can top 100 lbs here on the Tuna Coast.
Jacks
Huge, aggressive schools on light popping gear—double and triple hookups are common when they’re fired up.
Groupers
From shallow reefs to deeper structure—goliath & broomtail are the giants, best tempted on jigs or shads.
Yellowfin Tuna
Year-round action close to shore—schoolies explode on topwater; big YFT bring unmatched stamina on spin.
Dorados
May–Dec visitors offshore and inshore—beautiful jumpers that light up behind your lure on lighter tackle.
Sharks
Occasional popper and jig crashers—blacktips launch sky-high; hammerhead and bull sharks show up too.

Wahoo, Sailfish, Sierra Mackerel, Pacific Bonito, Marlin, Rainbow Runner, Corvina, Barracuda, Tarpon, Milkfish, Needlefish, Permit, Snook, etc.
The crew of Panafishing Adventures check every box imaginable. We were given an honest assessment of the dry season conditions, yet the fishing exceeded expectations as our captain worked hard each day to put us on biting fish. We caught roosterfish, cubera snapper, yellowfin tuna, sierra mackerel, and jacks on artificials, making every catch feel earned. The boat was comfortable and safe, the lodge staff attentive, the food fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere relaxed and social. There is nothing more we could have asked for and we cannot wait to return.

I came with my wife and young child simply to relax, enjoy the beaches, and escape the city. Panafishing delivered far more than expected. From airport transfers to clean, cool rooms, a beautiful pool, great meals, and easy access to Pedasi and the beach, everything was effortless. Even as a non-fisherman, this was the perfect base to enjoy Panama’s sun, sea, and adventure. We will absolutely be back.
